Raising Attainment - Artful Learning

WHY

The programme aims to increase GCSE attainment rates for selected students in 2024/25 to support future access to HE.

YEAR GROUP - 2024

Selected year 9 students.

It is available in 4 schools and colleges across our three regions:

Sarum Academy

Clarendon Academy

Broadoak Academy

Kingsbury Green Academy

WHAT’S ON OFFER?

Students work in groups of approximately 25 to unlock their thinking and learning skills. Using art to understand the EEF metacognitive ‘plan, monitor and evaluate’ model, they will then go on to apply the method to English and Maths to improve their GSCE attainment.

SESSION 1 - WHERE WILL I START?

Students will develop drawing skills by identifying starting points, warming up, understanding prior knowledge, the need to access resources and using different materials.

SESSION 2 - MAKING MY PLAN

Students will practice and refine the skills to begin to create a piece of work.

SESSION 3 - MISTAKES MATTER

Students will develop the skills to analyse, discuss, and implement methods to refine their work; understanding the value of mistakes.

SESSION 4- BECOMING MY GUIDE

Students will develop the skills to take on constructive feedback, work together and present and reflect on their final pieces of work.

DELIVERY

All sessions will take place at Locksbrook Rd, Bath Spa University, except for Broadoak Academy which will take place at University College Weston (UCW).
